I went against Reddit. I hope this doesn't affect my karma points.
My family loves reminiscing about the look of satisfaction on my 5-year-old face whenever I had our trusty 35mm Olympus camera in hand. Not to overreact, but after over 20 years, my landscape photos of Bohol Plaza still tug a string. Even then, I've always felt that analog photos are warm hugs.
My first experience with the Papershoot camera was in 2018, when I was with my friend Janine. She talked about how it was more cost-efficient in the long run. The downside was that it didn't have a flash and was sensitive to liquid, but even then, I tucked it at the back of my mind.
Since 2016, I've always had a film roll available, either loaded in my inherited Olympus 35mm or through a disposable camera. Either way, I was cautious with each shot, making sure I was taking photos of faces and rarely of places. Despite erring on the side of caution, I still had half a roll of butt shots.
I already knew I needed to document Ho Chi Minh's culture in analog. So I took the plunge with the Papershoot Camera last October. Finally, more faces and more places. Sharing with you a few of my favorites!
